“I published the site and it does not show up” is almost never a ranking problem. It is an earlier problem: Google does not yet know the site exists.
Discovery and indexing are different things
Discovery is Google learning that the address exists. Indexing is reading the page and storing it. Ranking is deciding where to show it. The three happen in that order, and getting stuck at the first is by far the most common case.
Realistic timelines
- With a sitemap submitted in Search Console: days to two weeks;
- With some site pointing at yours: usually faster, because Google arrives by following the link;
- With neither: open-ended. It can take months, and it can simply never happen.
How to tell whether you are indexed
Search for site:yourdomain.com on Google. If pages come back, you are indexed. If nothing comes back, the problem is discovery — and no amount of rewriting text will fix that.
What speeds it up
- registering in Google Search Console and submitting the sitemap;
- getting a site Google already knows to point at yours;
- keeping the site reachable and fast — a page that is slow to answer gets visited less often.
The second is the most effective, and the slowest to do by hand.
Indexed is not the same as well positioned
Being in the index means Google may show your site. Where it shows it is another conversation entirely.
